Position Summary

­­The Department of Communication in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University seeks candidates for two tenure track faculty positions, one for an open-rank faculty position, and the other for an Assistant Professor faculty position. The candidates should have interest in conducting research that contributes to understanding communication processes. Qualified applicants should have a social scientific focus, expertise in quantitative research methods, and ability to teach both graduate and undergraduate courses. For the open-rank faculty position, we are particularly interested in scholars who contribute to research in contexts that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates must have a commitment to teaching, mentoring graduate students, high-quality empirical research, and external grant activity. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Communication or a related field. In the letter of application, candidates should list their primary and secondary areas of research, teaching, and methodological expertise. Faculty will be expected to teach in one or more of the following areas:  diversity and intercultural communication; strategic communication; organizational communication; and social influence.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Communication or related field.

Department Statement
